poppin' off

I read this in dutch first, 'puppets' in my language is spelled 'poppen'

"According to the Hopi Prophecy the Kachina shall stop its dance and take off its mask as the Blue star appears for the Great Purification. This I believe alludes to what for many years I consistently have been saying in all of my lectures namely that as the filters (the masks) disappear we will no longer be puppets (Kachinas) of the divine plan and free to be and create without being subordinated to the divine evolutionary processes described by the Mayan calendar. As a new world is born people will, after October 28 2011, live life moment by moment by moment being free to create reality in accordance with their newly gained unity consciousness. This is the birth of the new world of peace that is as much a part of these prophecies as the difficulties that will precede it."

wiki:  The central theme of the kachina cult is the presence of life in all objects that fill the universe. Everything has an essence or a life force, and humans must interact with these or fail to survive.

Conformable to the doctrines of the Kabbalah, the parents of Bruce Wayne (Adam West), representing Chokhmah and Binah, are "killed" during the "lightning flash" of the descending Logos on the Tree of Life. This is the great cataclysm of the universe and our shared trauma.

This aspect of creation is repeated in the microcosm. Bruce Wayne wishes to lose his mask and wed the Goddess; but "bats" from the depths of the unconscious intervene. The Little Red Haired Girl is still contrary to his nature. Nigredo follows.

The Narrator at the beginning of Fight Club represents the superficial Yuppie approach to spirituality, using it as a means of escape into New Age delusions. Marla intrudes into his Cave and, like Kundry in Parzival, shows him how he truly is and demands that he find the Grail.

I came upon a wedding that old families had contrived;
Bethlehem the bridegroom,
Babylon the bride.
Great Babylon was naked, oh she stood there trembling for me,
and Bethlehem inflamed us both

And when we fell together all our flesh was like a veil

The Catcher in the Rye, Chapter 22

"You don't like anything that's happening."
It made me even more depressed when she said that.
"Yes I do. Yes I do. Sure I do. Don't say that. Why the hell do you say that?"
"Because you don't. You don't like any schools. You don't like a million things. You don't."
"I do! That's where you're wrong--that's exactly where you're wrong! Why the hell do you have to say that?" I said. Boy, was she depressing me.
"Because you don't," she said. "Name one thing."
"One thing? One thing I like?" I said. "Okay."
The trouble was, I couldn't concentrate too hot. Sometimes it's hard to concentrate.
"One thing I like a lot you mean?" I asked her.
She didn't answer me, though. She was in a cockeyed position way the hell over the other side of the bed. She was about a thousand miles away. "C'mon answer me," I said. "One thing I like a lot, or one thing I just like?"
"You like a lot."
"All right," I said. But the trouble was, I couldn't concentrate. About all I could think of were those two nuns that went around collecting dough in those beatup old straw baskets. Especially the one with the glasses with those iron rims. And this boy I knew at Elkton Hills. There was this one boy at Elkton Hills, named James Castle, that wouldn't take back something he said about this very conceited boy, Phil Stabile. James Castle called him a very conceited guy, and one of Stabile's lousy friends went and squealed on him to Stabile. So Stabile, with about six other dirty bastards, went down to James Castle's room and went in and locked the goddam door and tried to make him take back what he said, but he wouldn't do it. So they started in on him. I won't even tell you what they did to him--it's too repulsive--but he still wouldn't take it back, old James Castle. And you should've
That was about all I could think of, though. Those two nuns I saw at breakfast and this boy James Castle I knew at Elkton Hills. The funny part is, I hardly even know James Castle, if you want to know the truth. He was one of these very quiet guys. He was in my math class, but he was way over on the other side of the room, and he hardly ever got up to recite or go to the blackboard or anything. Some guys in school hardly ever get up to recite or go to the blackboard. I think the only time I ever even had a conversation with him was that time he asked me if he could borrow this turtleneck sweater I had. I damn near dropped dead when he asked me, I was so surprised and all. I remember I was brushing my teeth, in the can, when he asked me. He said his cousin was coming in to take him for a drive and all. I didn't even know he knew I had a turtleneck sweater. All I knew about him was that his name was always right ahead of me at roll call. Cabel, R., Cabel, W., Castle, Caulfield--I can still remember it. If you want to know the truth, I almost didn't lend him my sweater. Just because I didn't know him too well.
"What?" I said to old Phoebe. She said something to me, but I didn't hear her.
"You can't even think of one thing."
"Yes, I can. Yes, I can."
"Well, do it, then."
"I like Allie," I said. "And I like doing what I'm doing right now. Sitting here with you, and talking, and thinking about stuff, and--"
"Allie's dead--You always say that! If somebody's dead and everything, and in Heaven, then it isn't really--"
"I know he's dead! Don't you think I know that? I can still like him, though, can't I? Just because somebody's dead, you don't just stop liking them, for God's sake--especially if they were about a thousand times nicer than the people you know that're alive and all."

Zed is less brutal and far more intelligent than the Eternals think he is. Genetic analysis reveals he is the ultimate result of long-running eugenics experiments devised by Arthur Frayn — the Zardoz god . . . Zardoz's aim was to breed a superman who would penetrate the Vortex and save mankind from its hopelessly stagnant status quo. The women's analysis of Zed's mental images earlier had revealed that in the ruins of the old world Arthur Frayn first encouraged Zed to learn to read before then leading him to the book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Zed finally understands the origin of the name Zardoz — Wizard of Oz — bringing him to a true awareness of Zardoz as a skillful manipulator rather than an actual deity. He becomes infuriated with this realization and decides to plumb the deepest depths of this enormous mystery.

Everything I did, everything you saw, because there's nothing that I detest more than the stench of lies. And if you understand me, Willard, you will do this for me.

Willard: Everybody wanted me to do it, him most of all. I felt like he was up there, waiting for me to take the pain away. He just wanted to go out like a soldier, standing up, not like some poor, wasted, rag-assed renegade. Even the jungle wanted him dead, and that's who he really took his orders from anyway.

24 Jacob was left alone, and wrestled with a man there until the breaking of the day. 25 When he saw that he didn't prevail against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh, and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was strained, as he wrestled. 26 The man said, "Let me go, for the day breaks." Jacob said, "I won't let you go, unless you bless me." 27 He said to him, "What is your name?" He said, "Jacob." 28 He said, "Your name will no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have fought with God and with men, and have prevailed." 29 Jacob asked him, "Please tell me your name." He said, "Why is it that you ask what my name is?" He blessed him there. 30 Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for, he said, "I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved." (Genesis 32, WEB)

epilogue

Two students had studied for many years with a wise old master.
One day the master said to them, “Students, the time has come for you to go out into the world. Your life there will be felicitous if you find in it all things shining.”
The students left the master with a mixture of sadness and excitement, and each of them went a separate way.
Many years later they met up by chance. They were happy to see one another again, and each was excited to learn how the other’s life had gone.
Said the first to the second, glumly, “I have learned to see many shining things in the world, but alas I remain unhappy. For I also find many sad and disappointing things, and I feel I have failed to heed the master’s advice. Perhaps I will never be filled with happiness and joy, because I am simply unable to find all things shining.
Said the second to the first, radiant with happiness, “All things are not shining, but all the shining things are.”

Setting the Daughter upon the throne of the Mother (World).

When Christ the cornerstone moves in the corrupted image of man in his deep conversion and repentance, the Virgin Sophia appears in the movement of Christ's spirit in the corrupted image in her Virginal clothing before the soul. Before her the soul is frightened in its impurity so that all its sins are first awakened and before her they are horrified and trembling. Then judgement comes over the sins of the soul, so that it turns back in its unworthiness ashamed of its beautiful lover; it turns into itself and rejects itself as altogether unworthy to receive such a treasure. . . . Then the Virgin Sophia speaks to the Soul:

My noble bridegroom, my strength and might, be always welcome to me. How have you forgotten me for so long that I, in great sorrow, had to stand before your door and knock? Did I not always cry to you and call on you? But you turned your face from me; your ears had left my land. You could not see my light for you walked in the dark valley (
Ps 23.4). I was near to you and continually cried to you, but your sins held you captive in death, so that you did not know me. I came in deep humility to you, and called to you, but you were rich in the might of God's wrath, and you could not see my humility. You had taken the devil as a lover, and he had defiled you, and built up his robber's castle of vanity within you, and turned you completely from my love and faith, towards his hypocritical false kingdom in which you have done much sin and evil, and broken off your will from my love; you have broken my marriage, and have had a strange love affair, and lost me, your God-given bride, and caused me to stand, a crushed being, without the strength of your fire's might. Without your fire's might, I have not been able to be happy, for you are my husband; by you my own brightness is revealed. (Jakob Boehme)

  1. I like this post, even if no-one else does. I hope the narrative is sufficiently clear. Just imagine that I edited the videos together and set it to some beep-boop techno music.

Hugh Jackman's character in The Fountain is named after Major Tom. You probably knew this.

Tyler Durden does, after all, lead the Narrator out of Egypt--eventually.

  2. How so?

"Israel" = "struggles with God". The Fight Club was really a self-fighting club.

Sorry for getting animes in your blog. Evangelion is about a distant and overbearing father who (alchemically) creates a clone of his dead wife and forces her, along with his manic-depressive son, to trigger the apocalypse. It seemed relevant.

  5. I eagerly await the post where you dissect this movie. Contact at Devils Tower (the House of God)?

A.I. ends with alien contact, although it is implied that the aliens are actually descended from mechs created by the humans. The humans' mistake was creating machines with more of a capacity to love than they did (Son surpassed the Father).

Never Let Me Go? (Sorry, again.)

Kouzou Fuyutsuki: When Man created Evangelion, were we trying to create a clone of God?
Yui Ikari: Of course. Humans can only exist on this Earth. But the Evangelion will be able to exist forever, along with the human soul that dwells within it.

The "God" Zardoz himself is the one who raises up the "superman" who will overthrow the Old Gods. It's interesting to consider just how many levels this works on, macrocosm and microcosm. (Either Man creates his own Son, or . . . ?)
