We are informed by the Gnostics that the Demiourgos is a god of half-fire, half-darkness. Having previously identified his dark half as Batman, we shall now proceed to an analysis of his fiery half: Superman. (The parallels between Superman and Jesus Christ have been thoroughly discussed before, so that I wish only to look at the esoteric side of the shared mythos.)

We will recall that Marcion (“Martian”) held that Jesus was an alien space invader sent by the Good God to free the slaves of the Demiourgos. “Martians” refer to Mars energy, or alchemical Sulphur (Sulphur Fixum Est Sol).

The show Third Rock from the Sun features an alien named “Dick Solomon” (phallic energy, Sulphur) who falls in love with an earth woman named “Mary Albright” (the Mother of God). Cf. The Fifth Element where Leeloo, whose red hair indicates Sulphur, is an alien who crash-lands into Mars and is reconstructed by military scientist-alchemists.

In an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Dr. Crusher (= Isis, per Chris Knowles) falls in love with an alien Trill symbiont. The host body (= the Old Adam) dies, and she is forced to perform a "transplant" into the body of Riker (= Ra-Heru, the New Adam, with apropos Jesus beard). The symbiont, of course, looks like a big ugly dong. It is not the human host (and its own limited consciousness) that is important, but the fire of the deity dwelling within.

Will it now be possible for them to comprehend that their beloved self, to which they cling with the grip of despair, as a drowning man clings to a straw, has no permanent existence at all - but is merely an illusion, a product of a continually changing interaction of correlating forces; which, acting within the physical plane, produce that sensation which causes the illusion of isolated existence ? Will the pious be ready to believe, that before they can hope for any immortality of their individual self, they will first have to begin to live by finding that individual Higher Self, their Savior, who exists in a life beyond the separation of form? Superman, similarly, is the benevolent space invader (the Last Son of Krypton) and Word (Logos) that can be defeated only through "crypto"-nite. Lex means "law" in Latin. The Hanged Man shows the Logos as it appears scattered into the field of created things. Alchemically, the deity is hidden within the generative principle of Nature and must be revealed through the art of the alchemist. ("As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness," etc.)

Thus are “grays” really “G-rays”, or generative rays.

The implication is that the life principle itself (that is, Love) is foreign to our qlippothic universe.

In Superman Returns, it is revealed that Superman has conceived a child with Lois Lane. Dick and Mary = Supes and LL. Herein is concealed a great mystery, concerning the creation of a god from matter. It is for this reason that Supergirl (another LL) is an "Earth-Born Angel."

The World card is the Hanged Man, but right-side-up. ("Unless ye make . . . those that are above as those below," etc.)

Within the Uncle Scrooge comic "A Cold Bargain" is concealed the doctrine of the Incarnation of Christ. Scrooge-Osiris initially attempts to hide the Bombastium (Christ the Logos) in the Money Bin, but the power is out (no room in the inn), so he buries it at the South Pole ("out of Egypt have I called my son"). The Bombastium must stay frozen or it will evaporate (the volatile must be fixed).

Superman, too, is found within the ice.

When Herod slaughters the innocents (esoteric code for ejaculation), Christ is miraculously saved by being transported into Egypt (the lower part of the body).

That part of the body from the kidneys downward was termed by the early Qabbalists the Land of Egypt into which the children of Israel were taken during the captivity. Out of Egypt, Moses (the illuminated mind, as his name implies) led the tribes of Israel (the twelve faculties) by raising the brazen serpent in the wilderness upon the symbol of the Tau cross. Not only CHiram but the god-men of nearly every pagan Mystery ritual are personifications of the Spirit Fire in the human spinal cord. (Manly P.Hall)

Now, according to Tantric doctrine, this life principle exists primarily in the generative forces, which must be retained and sublimated, lest they be forever wasted. But this is in some sense an oversimplification; while the Logos might seem to have been scattered into the field of Maya, due to the principle of nonlocality, it can never truly be irretrievably lost. This is why Saddam Hussein did not possess Weapons of Mass Destruction--meaning, the connection between Heaven and Earth was never truly severed. Magica de Spell, or the veil of Maya, seeks to possess the Logos (which she can never truly do, this being the Self), and while it appears to be destroyed, it is through the foresight of the supernal Triad that it is preserved entire--inside the consecrated Host itself.

Anima Projection: The unindividuated man identifies with those personal qualities that are symbolically masculine; he develops these potentialities and to some extent integrates their unconcious influences into his conscious personality. However, he does not recognize qualities that are symbolically feminine as part of his own personality but rather projects them onto women. He will project his anima—those particular characteristics and potentialities that are significant components of his personal unconscious and therefore carry a special emotional charge—onto a few women for whom he will then feel a strong and compelling emotion (usually positive but occasionally negative). Infatuation (an instant, powerful attraction for a woman about whom he knows little) is one of the signs of anima projection, as is a compulsive possessiveness.

"She" is perceived as fake because she is an external simulacrum (developed by our alchemical culture creators) of an inner spiritual reality. Signifier and signified. (In the early nineties, postmodern theorists wrote quite a lot about this, as far as their limited understanding would allow, in regards to Madonna's performances.)

Every man carries within him the eternal image of woman, not the image of this or that particular woman, but a definite feminine image. This image is fundamentally unconscious, an hereditary factor of primordial origin engraved in the living organic system of the man, an imprint or 'archetype" of all the ancestral experiences of the female, a deposit, as it were, of all the impressions ever made by woman-in short, an inherited system of psychic adaptation. In Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, in order to lure our Pilgrim back to the shadowy world of illusion and suffering, Knives, or Maya, attempts to pattern herself after Ramona, or the higher archetype. The mirror symbolism is telling.

(Ramona, by the way, first appears to Scott in a dream--cf. Deckard's unicorn. These are archetypes of the Collective Unconscious--"Implants"--that point to Individuation.) David Jupiter Boring's Golden Ass can only be found with his cousin.

Irenaeus also shows that the Gnostics claimed the woman who suffered from an issue of blood to be their own Sophia who was healed by Horus the Christ. They related that Sophia had made an impracticable and impossible attempt to create, but brought forth a substance that was amorphous and imbecile, such as her female nature was capable of producing; that is, the flesh-making substance which needed the male to impress and imprint it with form. She was flowing away, 'flowing into immensity,' and in danger of perishing, when the Christ dwelling on high took pity on her, and having extended himself through and beyond Stauros (the boundary fence of the pleroma) he imparted a figure to her, but merely as respected substance, and not so as to convey intelligence. By Horus she was purified and established. This woman with the issue of blood they said was their twelfth aeon, and this number was represented by the twelve years. They also pointed out that the boundary fence of Stauros was the hem of the garment worn by Horus the Christ. In the apocryphal gospels the woman who had the issue of blood is identified as Veronica, she who received the likeness of the Lord pictured on a napkin or kerchief, which is still on view in Rome. Veronica, as Vera-iconica, indicates the true likeness, but the Gnostics, who were the authors of the Christian icons, knew better. The Christ imparted a figure to her, but not a living likeness, and this corpse-like portrait has been preserved by the Italian and Spanish painters. It was further affirmed by the Gnostics that the daughter of Jairus, whom Jesus raised from the dead when she was about twelve years of age, was likewise a form of the same twelfth aeon who was restored by Horus the Christ. It is not wise to know these things, however, since understanding that the Outer (un)reality is a reflection of an Inner reality can lead to madness. Kate Bush's "Babooshka" shows that Kether is in Malkuth after a certain manner, and She is merely playing games with Herself.

In the original ending of Scott Pilgrim, after Scott Kills the King and attains Illumination in Ramona's Graal, he actually gets back together with Knives, which is equivalent to the World card in the Tarot--and Dorothy returning to Kansas. But this was apparently thought to be a bit too esoteric for audiences.

In a certain sense, the archetype is much more unreal than the material, as it exists only in potentia within the Urgrund (Collective Unconscious). In Metropolis, Rotwang the alchemist creates a diabolical artificial woman (i.e., makes the negative anima conscious) that, in the final sequence, is burned (INRI) at the same moment that the true Maria (the positive anima), hidden from the world, reveals Herself. This is depicted in the Book of Revelation when the Whore of Babylon is destroyed by fire (Rev. 17:16), only to be immediately transformed into the purified New Jerusalem (21:2).

Simon, having fallen in love with Helen, took her about with him, saying that she had come down into the world from the highest heavens, and was his mistress, inasmuch as she was Sophia, the Mother of All.
