Carl Jung, the transpersonal psychologist, concluded that the doctrine of the Assumption reflected an acceptance [= glorification] of the physical world. A similar thought was expressed by the Russian Orthodox theologian Sergius Bulgakov, who described Mary as "the creature glorified and deified.
