OBLIVION

to be continued . . .

In other words, it’s a common theme in my writing that a dark-haired girl shows up at the door of the protagonist, and tells him that his world is delusional, that there is something false about it. Well, this did finally happen to me. I even knew that her hair would be black ~ P.K.D.

LETHE was the spirit (daimona) of forgetfulness and oblivion. She was often associated with the underworld river Lethe. Her opposite number was Mnemosyne (Memory).

MNEMOSYNE AND LETHE

As incorruptibility looked down into the region of the waters, her image appeared in the waters; and the authorities of the darkness became enamored of her. But they could not lay hold of that image, which had appeared to them in the waters, because of their weakness – since beings that merely possess a soul cannot lay hold of those that possess a spirit – for they were from below, while it was from above. This is the reason why "incorruptibility looked down into the region (etc.)": so that, by the father's will, she might bring the entirety into union with the light.... They had taken some soil from the earth and modeled their man after their body and after the image of God that had appeared to them in the waters. They said, "Come, let us lay hold of it by means of the form that we have modeled ..." (Hypostasis of the Archons)

How can Katniss be personally violated if the Capitol's Archontes only steal an Eikon? This is Plotinus' paradox of declined-or-did-not-decline, which again proves that the Neoplatonists had less understanding of these things than the Gnostikoi with their Kenoma in the place of a Pleroma

Isis' image is illicitly "bound in a chamber" as photographic reflektion, from the blonde who plays the brunette Girl on Fire in the motion pictures

Blade Runner, the ingenious movie version of Philip K. Dick's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, has been widely acclaimed as one of the best sf films. With Dick long gone, Jeter undertakes the further adventures of twenty-first-century L.A. detective Deckard, whose recent narrow victory over a violent android "replicant" prompted a retreat to the wilderness with his replicant lover Rachel. But there is at least one more vendetta-minded replicant still on the loose. Sarah Tyrell, sole surviving heir to the powerful replicant-manufacturing Tyrell Corporation and the human model for Rachel, pulls Deckard out of retirement and into a no-win predicament. Not only are there more replicants than anyone guessed, but Deckard is now wanted for the murder of Pris, who was not, as he had assumed, a replicant but fully human. Jeter masterfully reproduces the gritty film noir atmosphere of the movie while providing previously undisclosed and fascinating character background. Must reading for the film's large cult following. Carl Hays Amazon.com

"I would really love to play Rachael in Blade Runner 2 if Ridley would just call!"

In a recent interview with IGN, Harrison Ford revealed that he has been in contact with Ridley Scott regarding the sequel to Blade Runner, specifically, about returning to his iconic role as Deckard.

"Yeah, we've been chatting about it... I truly admire Ridley as a man and as a director, and I would be very happy to engage again with him in the further telling of this story".-Ford

The Little Mermaid drinks the potion and meets the prince, who is mesmerised by her beauty and grace even though she is mute. Most of all he likes to see her dance, and she dances for him despite her suffering excruciating pain. When the prince's father orders his son to marry the neighboring king's daughter, the prince tells the Little Mermaid he will not because he does not love the princess. He goes on to say he can only love the young woman from the temple, who he believes rescued him. It turns out that the princess is the temple girl, who had been sent to the temple to be educated. The prince loves her, and the wedding is announced.

The prince and princess marry, and the Little Mermaid's heart breaks. She thinks of all that she has given up and of all the pain she has suffered. She despairs, thinking of the death that awaits her, but before dawn, her sisters bring her a knife that the Sea Witch has given them in exchange for their long hair. If the Little Mermaid slays the prince with the knife and lets his blood drip on her feet, she will become a mermaid again, all her suffering will end, and she will live out her full life.

However the Little Mermaid cannot bring herself to kill the sleeping prince lying with his bride, and she throws herself into the sea as dawn breaks. Her body dissolves into foam . . .
